I'm going to start off with disagreeing with some of the negative reviews on here concerning the sound quality. The reason being, is because for the price you pay, I think these headphones sounded very capable and accurate, especially as I do own "audiophile" grade speakers and electronics in my main HT/Audio system, and I do actually sit and "listen" to music, even though its sometimes hard to find time to do so as much as I would like. They are very neutral, with sufficient bass and depth, and don't influence the overall sound one way or the other, and quite frankly, are in fact comparable with the "beats" by Dre headphones considering the price point. If you are expecting audiophile quality sound, then buy audiophile quality headphones, but be prepared to pay the premium that goes along with them, its really that simple. I read the complaints of the highs being muffled and the bass somewhat lacking, however I found that these headphones, reproduced highs and lows very well, with... Read more

I love how review geeks write their "pro" audiophile reviews for what is to me an entry/mid level Around-the-Ear Headphones. That being said I gave these headphones 5 stars as deservedly so. I'll tell you why in the 4 categories Amazon splits review stars into.
I am not a tech geek or audiophile. I enjoy listening to music and watching movies on my laptop. If you want studio quality sound for studio work, buy studio headphones for $300+ more.
Comfort: 5 stars Amazingly comfortable. The first day I had them I listened to music while I lifted weights in the morning. Had no problem with them being cumbersome or in the way at any point. I used them later on in the evening to watch a Dexter marathon on my laptop. I had them on for about 4 hours straight and the only thing I can say negative is that my ears started getting sweaty. But that might even be a good thing as this can refer to the seal of the ear pads being fully encapsulated. Not once did I feel... Read more

Beats Pro High- Performance Headphones Black Reviews
I had a good listen comparing these to the original Beats. In the end, I must agree with the many others who've tried these, they are MUCH better than the beats. Bass is still predominant, but highs and especially mids are much better represented. I think it's due to the lack of noise canceling, but these are much more lively than the original Beats
At 400$, you're really not paying for sound as much as durability. These are ROCK SOLID, the entire thing is really mostly metal, except the parts with the cushions. I must stress that there are much better offerings from Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Ultrasone (google them if you've never heard of them) IN TERMS OF SOUND. But if sound is not as important for you as durability, such that you're not an audiophile but just an average listener. I promise you these will last. Let me say again, ROCK SOLID.
My biggest warning for everyone who is reading this is the comfort factor. Unlike what you've been hearing from others... Read more

These headphones are by far the best i've ever had, and I've tried and bought many.
I have the Bose Qc15's and I have to say, if you don't mind not having noise canceling, these beat pros blow them out of the water. Not saying that the beats don't have any noise isolation!
At half volume, you won't hear a thing outside of these headphones unless someones screaming or something! I've also worn these on airplanes with an airline adapter that I picked up at the stores, and they literally block out most of the cabin noise.
The bass is just unbelievable. I play some of my Dubstep, House, Techno, Hip-Hop, Ambient, Classical, and even Vocal songs on these headphones, and I can tell you right now, they sound fantastic.
I can turn up the volume to the maximum and The bass is still there! No more ugly distortions and loss of sound. And the best thing is, the bass never overpowers everything else.
The highs on these headphones are unreal,... Read more

OK, I'm not a music professional. I love the sound these headphones give. I don't know why other reviewers felt they weren't comfortable, I feel mine are very comfortable and wear them multiple hours. I'm 6'4" 300lbs. I'm big and they are very comfortable. On to the bad. The included travel case SUCKS!! At a $360-$400 price range this bag is unacceptable. I could make a better one myself. Also the price, is it worth $400. I think maybe. The durability of the aluminum is great.
UPDATE: August 2011. The hinge for the right earpiece broke under regular use. The headphones still work, but now they are no longer comfortable on the ears as they don't sit properly on the sides of my head. For $400, this is a ripoff. Do not buy!!!

In general, the sound of the Sennheiser HD448 is excellent. The levels have mellowed out some with use, but still keep a small harshness to the sound, but not to the point of distraction when listening to music. The bass is tight for headphones in this price bracket and you do not ever find that they are lacking bass. The sound is satisfying, even for long sessions and you don’t find yourself suffering from listening exhaustion with the Sennheiser HD448 frequently. These cans are becoming a sanctuary for this touring musician. Each of the components are there for reproducing recorded music superbly. Slip them on and the outside sounds slightly go away. Put on the music and the outside noises and distractions are gone, leaving only you and your tunes. The music sounds tight throughout the spectrum. You can use these cans both with and without an amplifier. If you use with an amp, it improves the volume and some key frequencies. The iPod volume has to be pretty near to %90 to have a healthy listening level without the amp. Obviously, the original volume level of the MP4 offers quite a bit to do with the output volume of the iPod. In comparison to the PXC350, the Sennheiser HD448 really blocks much more noise passively; however once you put some batteries and turn on the active cancelling of the PXC350 it much surpasses the HD448, but thats rather obvious. With no batteries however, the HD448 blocks more noise.
High quality closed back around the ear headphones
Advanced acoustic transducers with a specially tuned frequency response
Unique leatherette ear pad design blocks outside noise for safer, critical listening

I bought these headphones after returning the Bose Triports Bose around-ear headphones, for personal and portable listening, which have good sound but are flimsy. Even out of the box, without time for break-in, they are stunning. The sound is precise, clear, and natural. Listening to Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, I hear each instrument beautifully and in surprising detail.
You can buy these with great confidence. An audiophile vendor not associated with Amazon gives these headphones 5/5, and that company has ears trained on equipment costing thousands of dollars. Of course, if you are prepared to buy Sennheiser HD 600 Sennheiser HD600 Over-Ear Open Dynamic Hi-Fi Professional... Read more

I bought these headphones to replace a pair of old Pioneer headphones that I inherited from my family. I wanted something better than earbuds to listen to when I was creating music. I also live in an apartment, and since the walls aren't that thick, with cheap headphones, I can sometimes hear outside noise (like the TV from the front room). I chose a pair of closed headphones to hopefully mitigate some of this noise.
Pros: *Amazing sound quality! When I first started listening to my music in these headphones, I started hearing instruments and riffs that I had never noticed before. I don't know how much of that is the placebo effect, but it's amazing. *When you put them on and you don't have any audio coming in, you can hear what is going on around you, and they don't cancel a lot of noise, but as soon as you start playing music through them, all the outside noise goes away. I had several of my friends try them on and I talked to them at a normal volume, and... Read more

Put on the music and the outside noises and distractions are gone, leaving only you and your tunes. The music sounds tight throughout the spectrum. The iPod volume has to be pretty close to %90 to have a healthy listening level without the amp. Of course, the original volume level of the MP4 has a lot to do with the output volume of the iPod. Right out of the box, they sound great great but are a little bright sounding. I have been burning them in for around 24 hours and they are mellowing quite nicely... m-e-l-l-o-w
