I started out with Bose and Monster as gifts thinking that I heard it all. Turns out my gifts were nothing more than successful marketing and poor quality product. Never again will I buy Bose or Monster Beats by Dre. I shifted to Grado Sr80i, Sennheiser HD429 S, Ultrasone HFI 780, and now these Audiotechnica ATH WS70s. They sound quite amazing right out of the box, but with 80hr burn in so far, it started to sound even better. I highly recommend watching a movie with it. Not to mention that this baby really shines with my Fiio E11 amplifier. Fair warning: they don't start out as the most comfortable headphones. I suggest using a mannequin head to rest these on if you have one. It starts to loosen up. I must also mention that they are indeed very stylish. Dre Beats got nothing on this but muddy bass drowning out all other details so you really miss out. Don't mistaken heavy muddy bass as surround sound because it isn't and many people do mistaken that... My problem with them was the incredible tightness of these headphones. The cans on the side are not big enough to actually be "over ear" (more like "on ear"). At least one side of the headphone has to be on your ear pressing against the outer edge of your ear, or if you move it farther back the pressure lands on your temples. It wasn't long before the headphones were just painful in any position. I'm a tough young guy and I thought I could handle it, but these headphones made me realize that great audio doesn't matter very much when you can't ignore the constant discomfort from the headset.Ended up returning. I believe it's possible these could be better with a burn-in on the sound and a long time to stretch and loosen the headphones, but a better design can allow headphones to be comfortable right out of the box. I was first introduced to A-T after selling my Senheiser HD555's (for a much higher price than I purchased btw) because, while they offer excellent quality and a fantastic soundstage, they were open style, meaning I could hear outside noises and others could hear me. So I switched to the A-T M50's, their meanest closed style headphones on the market. It is my experience with the M50's that lead me stick with A-T for the foreseeable future (at least until I leave college) and try out the new WS70's. While they aren't quite on quality par with their elder M50's, they are certainly good nonetheless. Owning these for a couple months with daily use I have heard notable changes in quality, especially the depth of bass.
