I just got a serious ear infection from them last month due to the rubber tips wearing out, breaking off and irritating my inner ear canal (be warned). Those Fontopias had the best all around sound for value and I didn't realize until I tried to use the OEM apple iPod earphones and found them to be horrible in comparison to the Sony. Also the iPod earphones irritated my already infected ears.Since then, after a month of shopping around and trying different over-the-ear styles of headphones, I stumbled onto these $9 Cobys in China Town. Every headphones nowadays are stereo, so if the sound isn't good, first look to what the quality is of the music you are playing. So I have no complaints about the sound. They were great at keeping out outside talking for the most part, and I love the in line volume control. But, by collapsible they mean that they snap in half at the top, and you have to snap it back in. I accidentally snapped it off and snapping it back in is not a *snap. The plastic is so cheap it bends easily, meaning that you bend it in the slightest and it will not ever snap in again right. So quality of sound: good. Quality of construction: terrible. And we all know that if the construction is terrible and breaks then it doesn't matter how good the sound is if we can't use it.. I use them when I'm on the treadmill and watching tv. I can lower the volume on the headset and listen to the tv or I can raise the volume at my pleasure. This one of the best purchases I've made this year. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to manage their sound from the headset rather than having reach for their Ipod volume control. And it is relatively inexpensive. Hooray!!! |
